FAQ
Why trust your project with an editor so new to the industry?

Why Me?
As an emerging fiction editor, establishing myself within the industry, I understand you might have some questions about collaborating with me. Below are some frequently asked questions that may help address any concerns.

Q: You’re new to editing - why should I trust you with my book?

That’s a fair question! Being newer to the industry means I bring a fresh, highly focused set of eyes to your manuscript. I take on a limited number of projects, read carefully instead of rushing, and invest real time in understanding your story.
Q: Will you change my voice or rewrite my story?

No. My goal is to support your voice, not replace it. I will focus on clarity, consistency, grammar and flow while preserving your style. Any suggestions I make will be done so with your intent and genre in mind. You always have the final say.

Q: What kind of editing or proofreading do you offer?

I offer proofreading and sentence-level editing. Visit the Services page for more information. If I notice larger issues outside the agreed scope, I’ll flag them for you rather than silently changing things.

Q: What protections are in place for me, the author?

As part of the process, both parties will participate in a brief meeting, either online or by phone. This is to ensure we have a good rapport and are happy to work together. We will then outline the project, agree on deliverables and expectations, and follow up with a contract signed by both parties.
I am also a member of the CIEP, so if you have any concerns about my professionalism, you could contact them.

Q: Can I see an example of your work before committing?
Yes! I’m happy to provide a short sample edit so you can see my editing style and decide if we’re a good fit - no pressure.
Q: How do you communicate during the project?

I believe clear communication is key. I’m responsive, open to questions, and happy to clarify edits or explain suggestions. I want the process to feel collaborative, not intimidating. If you want to chat every few days, then that is fine with me!
Q: Who are you best suited to work with?

I work best with indie fiction authors who want a supportive, detail-oriented editor and value collaboration. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about your book and takes the time to do it right, we’ll likely work well together.

Q: What if I’m nervous about handing my manuscript over?
That’s completely normal, your book is personal. I will treat your manuscript with confidentiality and respect. I’m always happy to start small (sample edit or shorter project) so you feel comfortable before committing to a full book.

If you have questions that aren’t covered here, feel free to contact me - I’m always happy to talk about your project.
